Everything to know about God of War Laufey after the May 20 delay

Fans will have to wait a little longer to play God of War Laufey. Santa Monica Studio has officially delayed the game, moving its release from February 16 to May 20, 2027. While the delay gives the developers more time to polish the experience, there is still plenty of exciting information to check out, including the available editions, pre-order bonuses, Collector's Box, and Faye's combat abilities. If you're planning to get the game, here's everything you need to know before placing your pre-order.

The new release date

Originally scheduled to release on February 16, 2027, God of War Laufey will now arrive on May 20, 2027, exclusively for PlayStation 5. According to Santa Monica Studio, the additional development time will help the team put the finishing touches on the game and make it the best experience possible. Although the delay may disappoint players who were looking forward to the original launch date, it should give the developers more time to improve the overall quality of the game.

How does Faye's Serpent Bow work?

One of the most interesting things revealed so far is Faye's Serpent Bow. This enchanted weapon is designed to give players different ways to approach combat, depending on the situation. The bow features two main aiming styles.

Full-aim mode

Holding the aim trigger all the way puts Faye into a more precise aiming stance. This mode offers a longer draw distance and allows players to target specific parts of an enemy. Landing shots on certain areas can slow enemies down or interfere with their attacks. Players can also stack up to five arrows before releasing them in a powerful volley.

Half-aim mode

If you only press the aim trigger halfway, Faye switches to a more mobile hip-fire stance. This mode focuses on close-range combat, allowing her to quickly fire a cluster of arrows at nearby enemies. It's a useful option when you need to move around and attack without spending too much time aiming.

The Serpent Bow also supports different arrow types, including rapid-fire, explosive, and multi-target options. Players can further customize it with different Serpent Scales, which change its appearance and provide additional perks. Customization doesn't stop with the bow. Armor, Blades, Scales, and Catalysts can also be adjusted, giving players more freedom to build their preferred combat style.

With its new release date set for May 20, 2027, God of War Laufey is shaping up to offer plenty of content for both longtime fans and newcomers. The different editions give players several purchasing options, while the Collector Box provides extra physical collectibles for those who enjoy collecting gaming merchandise. For now, the safest option is to compare the available editions and wait for more announcements from the studio before making your decision.
