Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker has been delayed
The upcoming Final Fantasy XIV expansion is one of the most anticipated launches in the MMORPG genre this year. The game has gained a lot of relevance in the last few months, with several streamers abandoning World of Warcraft to play it. This fact has drawn attention to Final Fantasy XIV and reinforced a trend that has confirmed Square Enix's MMORPG as the game with more players in the genre. It's debatable whether this change comes entirely from Blizzard's inability to keep players interested in its game, as Final Fantasy XIV has been gaining players on a steady basis since it was re-launched as A Realm Reborn. Whatever the case, the number of players eagerly awaiting Endwalker has increased exponentially, and they may be a little disappointed now because it's just been announced that it will arrive a bit later than expected.
Final Fantasy XIV Producer and director Naoki Yoshida has addressed this matter in a blog post where he explains the reasons behind this change.
We remained firmly resolved to adjust down to the smallest nuances and ensure our writing covers even the finest points of the vast and intricate story that has spanned these past 11 years since the original FFXIV to ensure that everyone can fully enjoy their adventure in Endwalker. Unfortunately, the consequence of this was that we ended up in a situation where we cut into the time required for final quality assurance checks due to this time spent on additional improvements.
When is Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker coming?
The final result is that the release date has been moved from November 23 to December 7. A couple of weeks is not too much, but it may be a problem for those that already planned to take days off work to enjoy the expansion. The apology is made, and the reasons seem to be good enough, as the quality of the content in the expansion will define the future of the game in a context where the competition to be at the top is fiercer than ever.
