Dune: Awakening has a bold future ahead , but not without struggle

In the unforgiving deserts of Arrakis, nothing comes easy. The massive beta test event for Dune: Awakening gathered thousands of players from around the world. They jumped into an exciting open-world survival experience with tints of MMO that has been generating hype for months. However, the experience proved to be both promising and problematic.

Set in a reimagined Dune timeline where Paul Atreides never existed, Dune:Awakening delivers a sandbox world where politics, survival, and mystery intertwine. Players assume the role of operatives investigating the sudden disappearance of the Fremen, all while navigating the fragile balance between Houses Atreides and Harkonnen.

A tremendous opportunity

The recent beta can be considered a success, but the PvP system has generated a big controversy, especially around certain builds. Funcom rapidly responded to the complaints and has added this to the things that need to be polished ahead of the upcoming release. On the technical side, the experience wasn't free of issues, but the general sensation was positive. If Funcom manages to fix those small problems in time, we will be looking at a big release in just a few weeks.
