Dead Space remake comes with Dead Space 2 on Steam

With the Dead Space remake just around the corner, Electronic Arts has put together a bundle for those who pre-order the game on Steam—you can get a copy of the sequel, Dead Space 2, for free. Check out the Dead Space 2 trailer here:

If you’ve already pre-ordered the game on Steam, don’t worry. Players who have already pre-ordered the game on Steam will still get the sequel come January 27. You don’t have to cancel and resubmit your pre-order to avail of the freebie.

A deadly double

Released in 2011, Dead Space 2 is set three years after the events of the original, on a colony called the Sprawl, which is located on the Saturn moon Titan. We find protagonist Isaac Clarke in a worse place than before, afflicted with mental illness after the events of the first game, and a prisoner of EarthGov. Of course, the Necromorphs make an unwelcome return because humanity can’t leave alien artifacts well enough alone.

As for the remake, Dead Space has been rebuilt on Unreal Engine 5. It retains its story and characters but with new features, such as a fully-voiced Isaac Clarke, a bigger and more interconnected Ishimura, and an Intensity Director designed to stress you out whenever things get too quiet.

Having the sequel bundled with the remake makes sense for players who have never played any of the Dead Space games since they can jump directly into Dead Space 2 after playing the first title. In terms of storytelling at least, this really does “make us whole.”

Of course, Dead Space 3 is also available outside of the bundle, but note that the second sequel’s tone and gameplay skew far from its survival horror roots.

Dead Space comes out on January 27, 2023, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. You can pre-order a Dead Space Steam key today. If you’re not on Steam, you can also pick up a Dead Space 2 PC key from our comparator.
