Darkest Dungeon 2 leaves Early Access in May

Darkest Dungeon surprised critics and players with its innovative mechanics, gloomy setting, addictive gameplay, and excruciating difficulty. While exploring the different locations in a haunted property while fighting against dreadful enemies was nothing new in video games, watching the heroes under your command lose their minds and succumb to horror, disease, and the worst mental afflictions to the point where you had to recruit new ones to continue your missions was something never seen before. In fact, the game could feel as if you were using them as cannon fodder to fulfill your mission, which is exactly what really happened. But there's nothing better than a good challenge for many players, and the game soon caught the eye of many players that would soon become fans, and Darkest Dungeon would become a cult game later. When Red Hook Studios announced its sequel, the hype went through the roof.

Darkest Dungeon 2 will change many things in terms of gameplay, but it will maintain the same oppressive atmosphere as its predecessor to deliver another challenging adventure with turn-based battles. Familiar heroes and some new faces will accompany you on a journey through the cursed lands of the Valley while you try to survive and stay sane enough to fight against the evil monstrosities that keep the region in darkness. Darkest Dungeon 2 entered Early Access on Steam and Epic Games Store in October 2021, but its final release date has been announced by Red Hook Studios. The launch of the game is scheduled for May 8 on PC.

That's not the only good news for the fans of the franchise. A demo of Darkest Dungeon 2 is already available on Epic Games Store and Steam. It lets you embark on an epic road trip to advert the apocalypse that will, most likely, end with your heroes dead or crazy. You don't have access to all the regions and heroes in the full version of the game, but the demo is more than enough to let you learn the new mechanics. Also, your progress in the demo won't carry over if you decide to buy the game and continue playing later.
