The Third Street Saints are back to their roots in Saints Row. A reboot of the original franchise, the newest instalment moves away from the over-the-top humor and craziness of the later sequels in favor of a more grounded approach. While the previous episodes featured you gunning through armies, gaining superpowers to fight alien invaders, and even going to hell and fighting Satan, the new Saints Row is more about turf wars, gaining respect, and making loads of money as fast as possible. According to Chief Media Officer Jim Boone:
"[We wanted to] go back to our origins and get back to that more contemporary crime angle that we love and that Saints Row is known for."
The game will feature an entirely new storyline and new characters. As the Boss of the Saints, you gather your friends to build a gang from the ground up, buying property and getting rid of violent rivals on the streets. The setting will be Santo Ileso, a city with nine districts that reminisces of Las Vegas and California.
Not everything will be different. You will still be able to completely customize your Boss character, from their gender to their personality. You will still play mini-games such as Insurance Fraud, where you try to scam insurance companies with self-inflicted injuries. And once again, you'll be your own boss, raising your tiny start-up gang to a criminal empire. Get ready for an all-new Saints Row.
