With the RimWorld - Ideology DLC, you will be able to have your own belief system, with many options, customization and depth.

The belief system you choose will define skill specialists, moral guides, and roles for your leaders. Since there are almost infinite options on how many combinations of beliefs you can have, you'll find yourself with nudist cannibals, charitable ranching cowboys, and many other crazy meme beliefs that only your imagination can create. This belief system is built around a collection of 1-4 core memes.

    These are the meme beliefs:

Animal personhood, Rancher, Pain is Virtue, Darkness, Tunneler, Tree connection, Nudism, Blindsight, Cannibal, Transhumanist, Flesh purity, Raider, Proselytizer, High life, Nature primacy, Human primacy, Female supremacy, Male supremacy, Supremacist, Loyalist, Guilty, Individualist, Collectivist.

Each belief defines a collection of unique rituals controlled by the players, such as dance parties, burn circles, gladiator duels, and more. Besides the rituals, there are also relic hunts for each belief that involve several quests in order to find them. There are also other quests added not related to relics such as Ancient complex loot, New temporary encampments, or groups of beggars.

These beliefs also have a system of different aesthetic styles that affect how many things look. Some of the styles are:

Rustic, Totemic, Morbig, Animalist, Hindu, and others. Along with new styles, there is new apparel attached to each ideology.

And from each meme can rise a number of precepts. These are specific rules and guidelines which affect preference and behavior. You'll be able to randomize precepts exactly the way you like and having the same meme won't imply the same precepts. Some of the precepts are:

Eating nutrient paste, Cannibalism, Insect meat, Fungus eating, Organ use, Execution, Venerated animal, Animal connection, Slaughtering animals, Apostasy, Autonomous weapons, Blindness, and others.

Rim World - Ideology also has the option to convert others by the use of conversations. People will try to convert those around them to their beliefs.

In addition to all the content added to this DLC, there's Gauranlen Trees, a unique type of tree that has a symbiotic relationship with creatures called dryads. Your colonists can connect with the tree in a special ceremony and it will gain the ability to influence the dryads.

With the arrival of new beliefs, there are also many new buildings unlocked. Many of them are used to support rituals, such as:

Altar, Lectern, Pew, Kneel sheet, Drum, Pyre, Effigy, Burnbong, and others.

Let's not forget about the enslavement of prisoners or purchasing of slaves from traders. They work on most tasks at the cost of reduced work speed. Each belief has a different attitude towards slavery. Some will accept it some will find it abhorrent.

You'll have the chance to sell your colony whenever you decide it grew enough in exchange for a piece of map that leads to the archonexus. This is an ancient machine with superintelligence that affects the physical world.

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What is the primary purpose of developing an 'Ideology' in RimWorld: Ideology?
Developing an Ideology in RimWorld: Ideology allows you to shape the core beliefs, rituals, social structures, and even the physical appearance of your colonists. It moves beyond simple survival to create a unique cultural identity for your colony, influencing everything from how they fight to what they eat.
How do 'Memes' influence the gameplay and the colonists?
Memes are foundational concepts within an Ideology that grant significant buffs, debuffs, and unique gameplay features. For instance, a 'Cannibal' meme might give colonists satisfaction from eating human meat but incur social penalties from non-cannibals, while a 'Transhumanist' meme encourages cybernetic augmentation and offers satisfaction from it.
What are 'Relics' and how are they obtained and used?
Relics are powerful, often unique, artifacts tied to your Ideology. They can be found through quests, generated by specific Ideology features, or even crafted. Possessing and displaying a Relic often provides significant mood buffs to adherents of that Ideology and can be central to important rituals.
Explain the function of 'Rituals' in the Ideology system.
Rituals are scheduled events that reinforce your Ideology, provide mood boosts, and can offer unique rewards or consequences. Examples include feasts, conversions, sacrifices, or even celebratory dances. Successful completion of rituals strengthens your colony's adherence to their beliefs.
How does the 'Conversion' mechanic work, and what are its implications?
Conversion allows colonists to adopt the dominant Ideology of your colony. This is achieved through persuasion by zealous colonists, attending rituals, or sometimes through force. Successful conversion can bring a colonist into alignment with your colony's values, but failed attempts can lead to dissent and conflict.
What are 'Roles' and how do they differ from regular colonist jobs?
Roles are specialized positions within an Ideology, such as a 'Spiritual Leader,' 'Enforcer,' or 'Moral Guide.' Assigning a colonist to a Role often grants them unique abilities, stat bonuses, and social authority, making them crucial for managing the Ideology and colony's spiritual well-being.
How do 'Precepts' shape daily life and colony management?
Precepts are the specific rules and guidelines within an Ideology that dictate how colonists should behave and how the colony should operate. They cover a vast range of topics, from acceptable food sources and medical practices to views on slavery, recreation, and interpersonal relationships.
How does the 'Styles' system impact the visual and functional aspects of your colony?
Styles allow you to customize the aesthetic and often functional elements of your colony based on your Ideology. This includes unique clothing, furniture, weapons, and even building materials. Certain Ideologies might favor specific styles, influencing colonist moods and social interactions.
Can I create a custom Ideology from scratch, and what level of customization is available?
Absolutely. RimWorld: Ideology offers extensive tools for creating entirely custom Ideologies. You can select multiple Memes, define numerous Precepts covering a wide array of societal aspects, choose specific rituals, and even design the appearance of your followers, offering unparalleled freedom in shaping your colony's identity.
