PS5 & PC Exclusive: Where Winds Meet Confirmed
The highly anticipated Chinese action-RPG Where Winds Meet has officially been confirmed as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive, alongside a PC release. Developed by Everstone Studios and published by NetEase, the game will not be launching on Xbox or Nintendo Switch, marking a significant move in platform alignment as Sony continues to secure third-party exclusives.
This announcement came during Sony’s latest State of Play showcase. Where Winds Meet was revealed to be making its console debut on PlayStation 5. Previously only confirmed for PC, the new reveal establishes the PS5 as the sole console platform for the game, emphasizing a growing trend where titles are strategically paired with PlayStation and PC while bypassing rival systems.
Set during the chaotic Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period in Chinese history, Where Winds Meet places players in the role of a wandering swordsman navigating political intrigue, martial arts combat, and ancient philosophies. The game blends traditional wuxia aesthetics with modern open-world design. Created using Everstone's in-house Messiah Engine, Where Winds Meet promises dynamic environments, cinematic combat, and a branching narrative shaped by player choice. The combat system, heavily inspired by classic Chinese martial arts films, benefits from choreography by action director Stephen Tung (Hero, House of Flying Daggers), adding authenticity to its fast-paced duels.
Closed beta
Ahead of the full release, Everstone has announced a final closed beta test running from July 24 to July 31, available on both PlayStation 5 and PC. This test marks the last major milestone before the game's anticipated launch later in 2025. Players interested in participating can register now to secure access and experience early gameplay across several in-game regions.
The platform exclusivity is particularly notable. While Where Winds Meet will be accessible to PC gamers, its absence from Xbox and Nintendo Switch highlights Sony’s continued effort to court international developers and secure compelling content for the PlayStation ecosystem. The decision also reflects a larger shift in global game development, as Chinese studios like Everstone and Game Science (Black Myth: Wukong) expand their reach beyond domestic markets.
While no firm release date has been announced, Where Winds Meet remains on track for a 2025 launch. With visually stunning trailers and strong fan anticipation, the game is already positioning itself as a major title in the release calendar. Where Winds Meet will launch as a free to play game, but if you are looking for alternatives to keep you entertained until its released, Ghost of Tsushima stands out as a very suitable option, and you can get it at the best price with our comparator.
