New Wartales DLC, The Skelmar Invasion, now available

Wartales, the open-world medieval tactical RPG by developer Shiro Games, expands its horizons with The Skelmar Invasion, the latest DLC now available for PC via Steam and GOG. This brutal expansion brings an unexplored map to discover, along with a host of community-requested features. In The Skelmar Invasion, players will travel to the once-free and fertile lands of Ormance, now occupied by the ruthless Skelmar soldiers. You’ll liberate local baronies and heavily fortified castles at the heart of each territory, strategize calculated assaults, and recruit local rebels to aid in the resistance.

Your mission in Wartales: The Skelmar Invasion is to build a formidable army and lead it in intense siege battles against fortresses at the center of each barony, reclaiming Ormance piece by piece. Equip each fighter with top-tier armor and weapons to withstand the deadly fire of crossbow-wielding adversaries defending the imposing castles. Once a barony is freed, bolster the resistance by rebuilding Ormance’s destroyed settlements and garrisons. Each restoration unlocks new progression options for every warrior in your warband, allowing you to grow stronger as you fight to wrest Ormance from Skelmar’s grasp.

Wartales is set in a medieval world ravaged by war and disease. The game’s story takes place a century after the fall of the Edoran Empire, brought low by an unprecedented plague that devastated the nation. Now, the land is rife with mercenary work and thievery. The Skelmar Invasion is the latest in Wartales’ lineup of DLCs, following Wartales – The Tavern Opens! and Wartales: Pirates of Belerion, all of which have enriched the base game with additional content. Shiro Games’ director, Quentin Lapeyre, shared the vision behind the new DLC and the introduction of siege battles:

“With The Skelmar Invasion, we focused on introducing some of our players’ most wished-for features,” said Quentin Lapeyre, Game Director at Shiro Games. “Siege battles introduce a whole new way to play the game from a strategic level. We’re beyond thrilled to finally get this into players’ hands and watch them wage war to liberate Ormance.”

Wartales is available for PC, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch. For now, The Skelmar Invasion DLC is available only on PC but is expected to arrive on consoles soon.
