Darktide Players Can Finally Breathe Again in 1.11.6
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide update 1.11.6 is a major balance-focused patch that targets one of the community’s biggest complaints: the overwhelming dominance of Carapace-armored enemies and anti-armor builds. Fatshark has reduced Crusher spawn rates across multiple activities, especially in Havoc mode, where elite-heavy encounters often forced players into narrow weapon choices.
Rotten Armour enemies have also been changed from Carapace to Infested armor, allowing more weapons and damage types to become viable in greater difficulties. The update aims to create a healthier combat sandbox where team composition and weapon selection feel less restrictive.
Fatshark’s latest balance patch reshapes elite encounters and weapon diversity across high-level missions.
Via the Steam update post, Several weapons, blessings, and class tools were adjusted to support this new direction. The controversial “Uncanny Strike” blessing was reworked from powerful Rending scaling into Brittleness stacking, reducing the extreme armor shredding that many melee builds relied on.
Popular weapons like the Duelling Sword, Combat Blade, Blaze Force Sword, and Sapper Shovel received targeted tuning, with some losing raw anti-armor power while gaining compensation buffs elsewhere. Psyker builds were not left behind, as Soulblaze and burn damage against Carapace armor were improved to help flame-focused playstyles stay competitive despite the broader balance shake-up.
Outside of combat balancing, update 1.11.6 also introduces several quality-of-life improvements and technical fixes. Ogryn movement has been improved with smoother vaulting interactions, while Veteran grenade regeneration talents received nerfs to reduce explosive spam.
Fatshark also implemented crash fixes, matchmaking improvements, HUD polish, and automatic integrity checks after corrupted-file crashes, which have been a great help since the Beyond the Hive update on the open map. Community reactions have been mixed but largely positive, with many players welcoming the reduction in Crusher spam and the push toward more varied builds.
While some fans dislike the nerfs to previously dominant setups, the patch appears designed to encourage experimentation and improve long-term gameplay balance. Check out our comparison website for a discount deal on Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.
