Updates & Patches

Fatshark has officially released the Skitarii Class for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, introducing the Adeptus Mechanicus to the battlefields of Hive Tertium. As Warhammer 40,000: Darktide's latest premium class, the Skitarii Class brings a unique blend of cybernetic enhancements, advanced technology, and battlefield versatility inspired by one of Warhammer 40K’s most iconic factions. The update allows players to serve the Omnissiah as an elite operative, equipped with specialized weapons, mechanical companions, and extensive customization options.

Forge Your Perfect Cybernetic Warrior

One of the class’s standout features is its non-linear talent tree, which offers players unprecedented freedom in creating their builds. Whether focusing on precision ranged combat with Galvanic Rifles, electrifying enemies using Arc weaponry, or engaging in brutal close-quarters combat with Transonic Blades, the Skitarii can be tailored to suit a wide variety of playstyles. This flexible progression system encourages experimentation and provides a fresh gameplay experience compared to Darktide’s existing classes.

The Skitarii also introduces the Servo Skull companion, a floating support unit capable of assisting in combat and mission objectives. Through talents and upgrades, players can enhance the Servo Skull’s effectiveness or unlock additional units to support their squad. Combined with a new arsenal of Mechanicus-themed weaponry and cybernetic abilities, the class delivers a distinctly technological flavor that sets it apart from the Veteran, Zealot, Psyker, and Ogryn.

Become the Ultimate Servant of the Omnissiah

Beyond gameplay, the update expands character customization with multiple Forge World backgrounds, cybernetic augmentations, voice options, and visual modifications. Early community impressions have been overwhelmingly positive, with many players praising the class’s depth, thematic authenticity, and build diversity. For fans of the Adeptus Mechanicus and Warhammer 40K alike, the Skitarii Class DLC represents one of Darktide’s most ambitious and exciting additions to date. The Machine God favors efficiency.
I've been waiting for a proper Adeptus Mechanicus class for a while now. The Skitarii fits perfectly into the Darktide universe, and the servo-skull looks so cool!

After about ten hours of gameplay, I think the Skitarii is a good class, but in my opinion, it's the least compelling of the three new classes added. Its talent tree is very interesting and allows for varied builds, but several skills clearly lack power. The electric grenades, for example, are quite disappointing and deserve a serious buff. Some energy swords would also benefit from being strengthened, while the dual blades are difficult to see once activated, which hinders gameplay. On the other hand, the servo-skulls bring a real innovation: being able to revive an ally remotely or hack objectives without exposing yourself is extremely useful. With a few balance adjustments, the Skitarii could become a truly viable class at higher difficulty levels. Thanks to the moderation team for extending the validity period of the news.

The non-linear talent tree sounds like the most important part of the update, since it gives more freedom compared to the more rigid class structures in the base game. That kind of flexibility usually helps keep gameplay fresh for longer.

I like that Fatshark keeps expanding Darktide with meaningful new classes instead of just cosmetic updates. Skitarii looks like a fun choice for both new and returning players
