The game is set in a once-prosperous mining town called Tombwater in the Wild West. However, a catastrophe and a horrific curse struck at the same time, turning all the residents into madmen and Eldritch monsters (cosmic horror). Players will take on the role of a lone gunslinger, traveling to this cursed town to search for a missing friend. In the process of the game, players will uncover dark secrets buried beneath the town and confront terrifying creatures.

Tombwater is a unique blend of brutal combat mechanics of the Souls-like genre and the exploratory structure of Metroidvania/Zelda-likes. Players will need to spend significant time mastering the combat, as the game demands high skill with mechanics such as dashing, slashing, and stamina management. You can also utilize a diverse arsenal ranging from revolvers, sabers, and explosives to ancient magic.

About the character system, the game offers 5 different starting classes:
