Steam reveals its most important games of 2019
Now that 2019 is coming to an end it is a very good moment to check what this year has offered us in terms of video games. One of the best platforms that can be used as a thermometer to measure which video games have been more relevant throughout the year is Steam. Epic Games Store has an increasing number of users due to its aggressive exclusivity policies but Valve's gaming platform still has a much bigger number of games.
The list of games that have been most important in 2019 on Steam has been made public and it comes with a few surprises.
Let's start with the Top Selling Games of 2019. The list includes the Game of the Year 2019, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, but also other games that have been out for a while, like Total War: Three Kingdoms, Warframe, Rainbow Six Siege, The Elder Scrolls Online, PUBG, Civilization VI or Monster Hunter World. It's worthy of notice that one of the games with the highest number of sales in 2019 is Grand Theft Auto V, proving that it doesn't matter if a game is a few years old if it is good enough. The launch of Destiny 2 on Steam has placed Bungie's shooter among the first places in the list too.
If we talk about the Top New Releases of 2019, the games launched this year that have generated the highest revenue during the first two weeks after their release are Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Resident Evil 2 remake, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Devil May Cry 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, Planet Zoo, Mordhau, Code Vein, and Remnant: From the Ashes. You can also find among those Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Total War: Three Kingdoms.
Valve has also listed games in other categories like the Top Selling VR games, the Top Early Access Graduates, or even the Most Played Games of 2019 which lists games that had more than 15,000 simultaneous players based solely on player count. You can check all the categories here, but remember that to find the best prices to buy any of those games all you have to do is using our comparator anytime.
