First Star Wars Outlaws gameplay is revealed
The first open-world game in the sci-fi universe, Star Wars Outlaws, was officially showcased during Ubisoft Forward. The footage features new combat and exploration features, as well as the introduction of a character unique to the franchise.
According to Massive, the game will take place between the events of the movies The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Protagonized by the thief Kay Vess and her little friend Nix, the title will show the causes and consequences of one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen.
In addition, Star Wars Outlaws will feature content that promises to stir up fans' memories. Amid unprecedented gameplay elements, such as the use of ships through space, familiar characters across the galaxy will be involved in the action-adventure story. Check out the gameplay below:
Ubisoft discloses many of Star War Outlaws gameplay features. The official website describes them as follows:
DISCOVER A GALAXY OF OPPORTUNITY
Explore distinct planets with bustling cities and cantinas before racing across sprawling outdoor landscapes on your speeder. Each planet brings new adventures, unique challenges, and enticing rewards if you're willing to take the risk.
EMBARK ON HIGH-STAKES MISSIONS
Take on high-risk, high-reward missions from the galaxy's crime syndicates. Steal valuable goods, infiltrate secret locations, and outwit enemies as one of the galaxy's most wanted. Every choice you make influences your ever-changing reputation.
According to the footage, these high-stakes missions feature a wanted system similar to that of the GTA franchise. Navid Khavari, the title's narrative director, confirmed the feature's existence in an interview with GameRadar+.
The protagonist Kay Vess will have a series of confrontations to resolve across the galaxy, and apparently, her decisions will not please everyone. According to the character's deeds, factions, unions, and other groups in the saga will react in different ways, giving benefits or blocking interactions according to their reputation. If she violates local laws in Star Wars Outlaws, she will pay the price by being persecuted and may even have her record tarnished in some nations.
With LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the franchise is still going strong on licensed games and doesn't seem to be pulling the brakes. Star Wars Outlaws is due for 2024 for Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and PC. If you fancy committing intergalactic crimes, check our comparator for the best deals on Star Wars Outlaws.
