Slay the Spire 2 Early Access Launch Date Confirmed

Slay the Spire 2 launch date confirmed alongside multiplayer mode

The highly anticipated sequel to the genre-defining roguelike deckbuilder Slay the Spire now has an official Early Access release date. Developer Mega Crit Games has confirmed that Slay the Spire 2 will launch in Early Access on March 5 via Steam, marking the return of one of the most influential card-based strategy games of the past decade.

A sequel with exciting novelties

Originally announced with a broader launch window, the sequel's arrival in Early Access signals the next phase of development, with player feedback expected to play a central role in balancing, content expansion, and mechanical refinement. The first Slay the Spire established a blueprint for hybridizing roguelike progression systems with deckbuilding mechanics, and its follow-up aims to significantly expand that formula rather than simply iterate on it.

Alongside the reveal date on Early Access, the big news is that Slay the Spire 2 will feature a fully integrated four-player cooperative mode. For the first time in the series, players will be able to climb the Spire together, coordinating card synergies, relic interactions, and tactical decisions in shared runs. According to early details, the co-op mode introduces multiplayer-specific design considerations, suggesting that encounters and build strategies have been adapted to support team-based play rather than merely layering networking onto the existing single-player structure.

In addition to co-op, Slay the Spire 2 will feature new playable characters alongside returning archetypes, each bringing distinct card pools, mechanics, and strategic identities. As in its predecessor, runs will unfold across procedurally generated maps filled with branching paths, elite encounters, events, and boss fights. However, the sequel promises an expanded set of cards, relics, and enemies designed to deepen build diversity and long-term replayability.

The decision to launch in Early Access aligns with Mega Crit's development philosophy. The original game benefited significantly from iterative updates driven by community input, and the studio has indicated that the sequel will follow a similar trajectory before reaching a full 1.0 release.

With its March 5 Early Access debut approaching, Slay the Spire 2 is already one of the most closely watched indie strategy releases of the year. For fans of high-skill deck construction, exciting synergies, and roguelike management, the climb up the Spire is about to begin again, this time, with allies in tow.
