Most of the people that play games like Croteam's first-person shooter are usually less worried about the plot that drives forward the game than about trying not to die while they massacre hordes of enemies for fun. It's even more certain the case of Serious Sam 4, the latest installment in a series of games that has become famous for the incredibly huge amount of enemies that you can have on your screen, the huge explosions, and its frenetic action. But that doesn't mean that the game is just a slaughterfest without a story behind, and we can now have a glimpse of it in the new video that has been revealed just ahead of the release of Serious Sam 4.
Humanity is under siege as the full force of Mental’s hordes spreads across the world, ravaging what remains of a broken and beaten civilization. The last remaining resistance to the invasion is the Earth Defense Force led by Sam ‘Serious’ Stone and his heavily-armed squad of misfit commandos.
Serious Sam 4 delivers exactly that, a story that many could deem shallow but that has been driving the series since the beginning. Mental is the bad guy and Sam "Serious" Stone is the only one able to save the world, just by doing what he does better, traveling in time and facing an endless legion of aliens to merciless blow them to smithereens with all kinds of weapons. In this case, the story is more of a nice addition that gives you a very good excuse to fo what you do best, killing aliens, but it does the job quite well.
If you are a fan of the series or you feel like relieving some stress in a frenetic way in a first-person shooter, Serious Sam 4 is definitely your game. The game will be available tomorrow on PC and it will come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on a later date.
