Rise of the Ronin faithfully recreates 1800s Japan
Rise of the Ronin has caught the eye of any PlayStation players who enjoyed titles like Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Developer Team Ninja has a long story with action games with Japanese inspiration, but the studio has always added a sort of supernatural vibe to their games. Now, the developer is taking a more realistic approach to the setting by offering the players the possibility of exploring Japan during the final days of the Tokugawa Shogunate, a convulse period also known as Bakumatsu. Rise of the Ronin lets you play as a masterless samurai embarked on a thrilling adventure. The game features a branching storyline that evolves depending on your decisions as you forge your path with blood and violence.
Visit Japan in the 1800s
In Rise of the Ronin, Team Ninja has opted to leave aside the dramatics of supernatural lore and ancient mysteries to focus on delivering a realistic experience set in 1800s Japan. The game offers an accurate representation of life in that era and allows you to visit iconic locations from Japan, like Edo, Yokohama, and Kyoto, including some of their most important districts. The studio is committed to creating those locations with an impressive level of detail in the game. You can take a first look at them in a dedicated entry on the PlayStation Blog, but also check out right below the first instalment in a series of Rise of the Ronin development diaries that Team Ninja will publish in the coming weeks.
Rise of the Ronin is an immersive open-world adventure packed with action. The developer has created a combat system that is accessible to all players no matter their level of expertise. Whether you opt for ranged weapons, melee combat, or firearms, Rise of the Ronin offers you a wide variety of weapon choices to progress through the game and lets you explore different gameplay styles that can be as complex as you want depending on your skill level.
