Endless roads and synthwave beats make Retrowave 2 easy to love

Retrowave 2 turns neon highways into the perfect relaxing drive

Neon lights stretch across the horizon, synthwave music fills the air and traffic flashes past as you speed along an endless highway. That is the simple but incredibly stylish experience at the heart of Retrowave 2, an arcade driving game built for players who want to switch off, relax and enjoy the road.

Each run begins by selecting a car and one of the game’s colourful environments. The objective is to weave through traffic, maintain high speeds and perform risky near misses to earn points and money. Those rewards can then be used to unlock additional vehicles, improve their performance and purchase cosmetic items such as new wheels, spoilers, paint colours and licence plates.

There is no complicated campaign to follow or demanding simulation system to master. Players can jump into a session, turn up the soundtrack and drive for as long as they like. This straightforward concept makes the game an excellent choice for anyone searching for something relaxing after a long day.

Gorgeous roads made for relaxing drives

Visual presentation is easily one of the game’s strongest features. Colourful sunsets, glowing palm trees, reflective streets and enormous cyberpunk skylines make every journey feel like a moving synthwave poster. The selection of environments also goes beyond traditional neon cities, introducing dystopian locations, post-apocalyptic highways and surreal roads travelling through space.

Players who enjoy the stylish highway cruising of Cyber OutRun will feel at home with Retrowave 2, although the focus here is less on reaching checkpoints and more on dodging traffic, building a high score and soaking up the atmosphere. Its retro-futuristic visuals, detailed car customisation and wide selection of neon worlds give the game a distinct identity, while the simple handling keeps every drive smooth and relaxing.

Following its full release, the game now offers more than 18 environments, at least 15 cars, four different modes and over 50 synthwave tracks. Custom music support also allows players to create their own soundtrack for every neon-soaked journey.

Several improvements introduced throughout development are now included in the complete package, including better lighting and reflections, more vehicle upgrades, additional cosmetic options, new camera choices and a huge collection of achievements. One Way, Two Way, Time Attack and Bomb modes provide different challenges, ranging from peaceful cruising to frantic high-speed survival.

Anyone expecting a realistic racing simulator may find the experience too simple, but that simplicity is also its greatest strength. Retrowave 2 is colourful, accessible and perfect for short sessions when you simply want to drive through an amazing-looking world without worrying about complex objectives.

Le jeu mise avant tout sur la simplicité et l’accessibilité plutôt que sur une simulation complexe. Slalomer entre les voitures, éviter le trafic et enchaîner les dépassements pour gagner de l’argent forme une boucle de gameplay claire et efficace.
The game prioritizes simplicity and accessibility over complex simulation. Weaving between cars, avoiding traffic, and chaining together overtakes to earn money forms a clear and effective gameplay loop.

Lo veo con buenos ojos. Las bases parecen sólidas y esto podría llevar a algo realmente interesante en los próximos meses.
I see it as a positive development. The foundations seem solid, and this could lead to something really interesting in the coming months.

Honestamente, no entiendo el tema lo suficiente como para tener una opinión. Suena interesante, pero prefiero dejar que la juzguen quienes sí saben.
Honestly, I don't understand the topic well enough to have an opinion. It sounds interesting, but I prefer to let those who know more judge it.

Retrowave 2 has a truly successful art direction; the neon lights and atmosphere are magnificent. However, it's clearly not the type of game that makes me want to spend time on it. I completely understand that some people appreciate this more contemplative experience, but for me, it just doesn't feel like it's for me.

Sometimes a driving game doesn't need long races or a big career mode. Picking a car, avoiding traffic and enjoying the music is already enough for a relaxing session.
