Free Content Roadmap Unveiled for FBC: Firebreak
The release of FBC: Firebreak is right around the corner and Remedy Entertainment has shared its post-launch plans for the co-op shooter set in the Control universe. The studio revealed that major updates including new missions, environments, enemies, and gameplay mechanics will be offered entirely free of charge. Cosmetic items, such as character skins and visual upgrades, will be the only paid additions to the game.
An ambitious roadmap
Remedy's roadmap highlights two significant content drops planned for 2025. The first, scheduled for fall and codenamed "Outbreak," will introduce a new mission type set within the Research Sector. Players can expect to face new enemy types and experience expanded systemic gameplay features, such as temperature effects. The update will also offer earnable in-game rewards to keep players engaged.
The second major update, "Blackout," is slated for a winter release. This content expansion promises to plunge players into a dark, mysterious new area, complete with unfamiliar threats and gear. Remedy has confirmed that Blackout will continue its philosophy of delivering core gameplay content for free while offering optional premium cosmetic bundles called "Classified Requisitions." These will include character customization options, sprays, armor variants, and voice lines.
We have plans for 2026 post launch content, but we want to launch the game first, see what the reception is and what the community wants to see, what you might gravitate to before we make more decisions on what kind of content we'll be releasing, for free, in 2026 for FBC:… https://t.co/1JZlwBzP0L

Looking ahead to 2026, the studio is taking a wait-and-see approach. According to Remedy's communications director Thomas Puha, the team plans to observe how the player community responds to the 2025 updates before committing to further expansions. This responsive strategy allows the developers to tailor future content based on active feedback and player engagement.
FBC: Firebreak will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Remedy has emphasized that there will be no battle passes, daily login demands, or limited-time events that pressure players to engage on a rigid schedule. With two substantial updates already planned and more potentially on the way, the studio appears focused on building long-term experiences and keeping them fresh without asking fans to reach for their wallets.
