Redfall will not have microtransactions
Microtransactions have always been a controversial feature in video games. Some people don't mind paying to unlock additional cosmetic items for their characters, while others think that they should get the full package when buying the game. Whether microtransactions are considered a way of supporting a game or not, the truth is that a majority of players are clearly against the possibility of buying items that give you an advantage in a game. Fortunately, Redfall will be part of the long list of video games that leave microtransactions aside to offer a full experience that doesn't cost you extra.
No microtransactions but a lot of extra content
Redfall creative director Harvey Smith has delved into this matter in a recent interview. He claims that the development team is very proud of not having microtransactions in the upcoming first-person shooter from Arkane Studios Austin.
"We try to be very clear that there are no microtransactions and there is no store in the game. We're very proud of that. If you find a costume in the game, then you can have it, as simple as that."
In the same interview, he left it very clear that the studio has plans to launch additional content for Redfall, which will arrive in the form of DLC in the months following the release.
"We have plans for additional guns, costumes, monsters, characters, and more that we can't talk about right now. But we have a strong year of updates, and it's all either in the current game or it will be DLC. We try to do it as fairly as possible for people."
Redfall puts you in the shoes of one of the few survivors left in the eponymous town after it was overrun by very special vampires. It's an immersive open-world first-person shooter that you can enjoy alone or with friends in cooperative multiplayer mode. The release of the game is scheduled for May 2, 2023, on PC and Xbox Series X/S. You can buy your Redfall PC key at the best price with our comparator.
