Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has gone gold
Ubisoft announced on its social media that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has achieved gold status. "Going gold" is an industry term that indicates the game is finished and ready for release. While this might seem redundant to the general public, a developer confirming gold status reinforces the game's release date and ensures there won't be any more postponements.

With this, players are guaranteed to enjoy the new entry in the Prince of Persia series on January 18, 2024. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will be the franchise's first Metroidvania take, which was known for its 2D sidescrolling platforming games.
In this brand-new adventure, players will step into the shoes of Sargon, a young and gifted warrior and a member of an elite group called The Immortals. Sent to rescue Prince Ghassan, they will explore Mount Qaf—a once wondrous place, now cursed and hostile. Sargon and his brothers-in-arms will soon discover that time will be a treacherous foe, and the world's balance must be restored.
Inspired by the Metroidvania structure, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown allows players to explore a handcrafted world at their own pace. From the majestic Citadel of Knowledge to the colorful landscapes of the Hyrcanian Forest, players will discover a variety of environments inspired by Persian mythology. Acquiring new time powers, unlocking unique abilities, and combining them in combat, Sargon will progressively delve deeper into Mount Qaf, solving puzzles, finding secrets, and completing exciting side quests.
A video recently released by Ubisoft reveals more about the early stages of the game and its otherworldly secrets found in the Lower City, Hyrcanian Forest, and Sacred Archives. Sargon will need to use acrobatics to navigate the stages. Players can expect many spikes on the ground and walls, flagpoles, wall jumping, and numerous traps as they progress through the dangerous and treacherous world of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The preview also showcases Menolias's bow, which expands Sargon's arsenal and capabilities in both battle and movement, as the bow can reach distant objects and enable new means of locomotion.
Ubisoft has been on a spree of releases lately, with Assassin's Creed Mirage in October, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora in December, and now Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown on January 18 for PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One|Series, Switch, and PC.
