It’s time to pick up your walkie-talkie again as the sequel to the acclaimed adventure-thriller Oxenfree launches this July 12. According to the Netflix press release:
"Set five years after the events of the first game, which continues to be celebrated for its compelling storytelling, relatable characters, and captivating art style, Oxenfree II: Lost Signals will take players on a gripping narrative-driven adventure featuring an all-new cast of characters and original story.”
The game features Riley Poverly, an environmental researcher who returns to her hometown of Camena to investigate strange radio signals that are messing up the area’s electronics. She is drawn to the nearby Edwards Island and gets more than she bargains for when she encounters portals, otherworldly beings, and a cult called Parentage that is apparently attempting to summon something from another dimension.
While Riley is a new character and doesn’t appear in the original game, a 2021 update to the original game ties the two chapters together, so we may see references to the original cast in Oxenfree II.
The game was delayed for two years so the developers could polish various features, including UI localizations and subtitles of 31 languages and dialects, including Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, Romanian, Turkish, Vietnamese, and more. During the delay, Night School Studios was acquired by Netflix, which was already expanding into video games.
Oxenfree II: Lost Signals will launch on June 12 for Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. You can pre-order an Oxenfree II: Lost Signals PC key at the best prices from our comparator.
