Overkill starts revealing details about Payday 3
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Payday franchise, developer Overkill Software has hosted a livestream. We could watch the developers talking about the popular first-person shooter series focused on criminal activities, but the fundamental part began when they started revealing details about the next installment, Payday 3. The acquisition of the studio by Starbreeze has not diminished the passion that the creators are putting into the new game, but we have had no news about it for a while, and players were eager to know more. In the video, we can discover two important facts about Payday 3: it will take place in New York, and the original characters will be back.
Although the livestream only reveals a brief overview of Payday 3 with only concept art to show. Game director Erik Wonnevi has revealed a few additional details:
"In the meantime, the world of Payday has transitioned into the digital age, with software giants, crypto currencies, mass surveillance and the Dark Web all playing a role in the gang's new gadgets, challenges and opportunities."
The upcoming game will be bigger and with heists that feel more real. It will also take a more modern approach to the implications of your actions, reflecting the media capability of covering your illegal activities and sensationalizing them, which will potentially have an impact on your plans.
Payday 3 will bring back the original crew from Payday, including Hoxton, Dallas, Chains, and Wolf. It is yet to be disclosed what kind of events connect them to the story in Payday 3.
We will have to wait for quite a bit to enjoy Payday 3, as the game's release is scheduled for 2023. But now that Starbreeze has spilled the beans, we are bound to know more details about the game in the upcoming months. Meanwhile, you can compare game prices on our comparator to find the best prices to buy Payday and Payday 2 if you want to have some fun by robbing banks with your friends.
