Out Of Time Review: Co-op Chaos Through Every Era

Out Of Time Review: Co-op Chaos Across All Eras

Imagine this: You’re swinging a medieval broadsword, your teammate is unleashing volleys from a cyberpunk plasma cannon, and the horde charging you includes both a Tyrannosaurus Rex wearing tank armor and a squad of Roman centurions. Sounds like a fever dream, right?

Welcome to Out Of Time, the fast-paced, genre-bending roguelite that Manticore Games dropped on us in 2025. Forget classes; forget predictable dungeon layouts. The Shattering has broken the calendar, and the result is the most gloriously chaotic multiplayer experience we’ve had all year.

This isn't just about blowing up enemies from different eras—it's about survival through synergy. With a tether system that forces you to stick close to share vital stats and gear loadouts that offer literally millions of possible combinations, Out Of Time is betting that success isn't just about firepower; it's about friendship in the face of temporal catastrophe.

Is this glorious mess of timelines the new king of co-op roguelites, or does all the chaos eventually unravel the fun? We’ve spent the last few weeks diving into The Tangle, permanently upgrading our gear in Infinitopia, and trying to master the art of not breaking the Tether.

The Gear That Defines You (No Classes Allowed)

Out Of Time plunges players into The Tangle, a world where medieval, modern, and futuristic eras violently collide following "The Shattering." This 3D co-op roguelite, reminiscent of the isometric chaos of titles like Ravenswatch or Ember Knights, ditches classes entirely. Your playstyle is defined only by your gear, allowing you to mix and match from any timeline—like a sword and a plasma cannon—to create over 190 million loadouts, focusing on DPS, Support, or Tank roles.

Teamwork is vital, enforced by the unique Tether System. Staying close to your 4-player squad is mandatory, as it grants shared buffs and healing; breaking the Tether severely punishes the team. This mechanic, which demands tight coordination similar to cooperative platformers, forces strategic movement amid the constant, chaotic action.

The gameplay is a high-speed roguelite sprint. Runs are timed, intense dashes across unique maps filled with escalating enemies and tough bosses, echoing the frantic pace and escalating difficulty of games like Risk of Rain 2 and Gunfire Reborn. Even after a wipe, you return to the Infinitopia hub to spend resources on meta-progression, permanently upgrading your gear to guarantee a stronger start for the next chaotic run.

Overall, if you are a big fan of fast-paced, multiplayer co-op roguelites (action RPG/MMO-like elements), Out of Time might be the perfect game for you. Please make sure to use our comparison tool in order to purchase Out Of Time for the best price

I’m all about motorcycles, retro gaming, and the golden handheld era of the PSP and PS Vita. I love the thrill of the ride just as much as the nostalgia of classic games. I believe games can bring people together, spark creativity, and make the world a little brighter—one adventure at a time.
