Nintendo Switch 2 comes with a high price tag but promises a spectacular launch

The gaming community is abuzz with speculation about the Nintendo Switch 2. According to analysts, Nintendo's next-generation gaming console is expected to start at $400 or more, yet it is still anticipated to set a record for the biggest console launch ever. A Bloomberg report citing multiple experts suggests that due to U.S. tariffs and rising component costs, the price of the Switch 2 will be at least $100 higher than the original version. Some predictions even estimate a price tag of $499.

Despite the high price, analysts believe that the Switch 2 will be in high demand. Some predict that Nintendo could sell between 6 to 8 million units on the first day alone, far surpassing the records of previous console generations.

The success of the Switch 2 will not only come from its hardware but also from its impressive lineup of launch titles. Blockbuster games such as Mario Kart, 3D Mario, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Metroid Prime 4, and even Call of Duty are expected to be available on the new console.

However, aside from the console price, game prices will also play a role in gamers’ purchasing decisions. Many predict that Switch 2 games will be priced around $70, similar to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Nintendo is set to hold a special Nintendo Direct event on April 2, where they are expected to announce the release date, pricing, and the first batch of games for the Switch 2.
