New World's Huge Update Features New Weapons, Enemies, and More

A few days ago we shared that New World would be getting a big patch called Into the Void. It dropped today, but we didn’t know exactly it would be this massive. Not only did we get a new weapon and new enemies, but we also have quests and a large number of fixes that are sure to delight players. Here’s a recap of the launch video in case you missed it.

Power of the Void

Some of the things we covered before are the launch of the Void Gauntlet, which is said to scale on your character’s intelligence and focus. This makes it a joy to use with the Life Staff and other magical items. The Void Gauntlet also opens up two weapon mastery trees:

  • Annihilation - Focusing on the Void Blade, a summoned weapon of corrupting energy, this tree lets you focus on dealing tremendous damage at close range.
  • Decay - Focusing on the Orb of Decay, this tree lets you heal allies while dealing debuffs to enemies.

Enemies at the Gates

The Void Gauntlet is a welcome addition to the New World arsenal, because there’s a whole new enemy faction that’s raiding Aeternum. The Varangian Knights have landed in the Southeastern Aeternum and are wreaking havoc as they hunt for mystical items and magical secrets left behind by the Crimson Sorcerer. Led by Lord Commander Attalus, they will stop at nothing to fulfill their mission, which puts them directly at odds with the three factions. Players will encounter four classes of Varangians: Varangian Hewers, Varangian Scouts, Varangian Knights, and Varangian Archers.

A Newer World

However, the Void Gauntlet and the Varangians are just the tip of the iceberg. The update adds three new PvP faction missions:

  • Control points – Take control of a fort
  • Intercept – Fight and defeat enemy faction members to collect their tears
  • War Camp Loot – Obtain plans from an enemy faction’s war camp

There are also several updates to existing quests to include elements like destructible elements and wave encounters. Due to this, players may have to redo some main story quests like “Old Stone Remembers” and “New Initiate, Old Order.”

Other changes include a speed bonus of 10% when traveling along roads, plus if players keep PvP on they get a 10% bonus to luck and an additional 30% for gathering luck. Healing bonus for light equip load has been increased from 20% to 30%, and the healing bonus for medium equip load from 10% to 15%. Faction Change Cooldown has been reduced from 120 days to 60. Finally, there are tons of bug fixes and changes to New World levelling as well as balancing magic items.

You can see the full list of updates on the release notes.
