Forza Horizon 6 team answered the fan's questions on Discord
A recent developer Q&A held on Discord has shed new light on Forza Horizon 6, giving fans a clearer picture of how the next entry in the long-running racing franchise is shaping up. During the session, developers from Playground Games answered a wide range of community questions, outlining new gameplay systems, adjustments to progression, and plans for ongoing content support.
New ways to play the game and other exciting features
One of the standout novelties in Forza Horizon 6 is a new race format called Touge Battles, inspired by Japan's mountain pass racing scene. These events focus on one-on-one competition across a selection of winding routes and are designed to capture the intensity of downhill and uphill duels. Players will be able to encounter these challenges organically in single-player, while multiplayer modes will rotate them through dedicated playlists. Importantly, Touge Battles exist outside the main festival structure, allowing players to engage with them independently of overall progression.
The developers also confirmed a significant overhaul to the Festival Playlist system, which has been a central pillar of recent Horizon titles. In Forza Horizon 6, the playlist will become available much earlier in the experience, roughly within the first hour of gameplay. This change is intended to make seasonal objectives and rewards feel like a natural part of the core loop rather than something reserved primarily for late-game players.
Another key improvement focuses on how players acquire cars. The team introduced a new system that allows previously time-limited vehicles to reappear dynamically across the game world. Availability will vary between players, creating a more flexible and less restrictive approach compared to earlier entries. The goal is to reduce the frustration associated with missing limited-time content while still preserving a sense of rarity for special editions.
Several smaller adjustments were also highlighted during the Q&A. The cooperative Forzathon Live events have been reworked and renamed “Stunt Party,” signaling a refreshed take on group activities. Meanwhile, the Eliminator battle royale mode will now begin with all players driving the same starter vehicle, helping to standardize early-game competition. For players seeking endgame challenges, a new area known as Legend Island will introduce its own festival hub and exclusive events, alongside access to one of the series’ longest races.
The information shared during the Discord session points to a broader effort to refine accessibility while maintaining depth for long-term players. With its Japanese setting, expanded systems, and reworked progression, Forza Horizon 6 is aiming for a balance between innovation and the open-world racing formula that has defined the series.
