Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is delayed to early 2026
Skydance Games has announced the delay of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, a game focused on Captain America and Black Panther. The title was initially scheduled for 2025, but it's now been pushed to early 2026. In a statement posted on X (Twitter), Skydance explains the postponement. According to the company, the game needs more polish, which will require more work time for the devs. That said, the company promises to bring "exciting things" soon.
"Taking this additional time will allow us to add more polish, and make sure we give you the best possible experience, and one that lives up to our vision," says the official statement. Revealed in March 2024, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is the new adventure from Amy Hennig, known for being the writer and creative director of the first three Uncharted games.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly back in December, Hennig said that the game's setting in 1943 allows the team to create "a bunch of interesting things." One was "to not only tell a story with a young Steve Rogers who's still trying to find his feet, as opposed to the more seasoned guy that we've seen in many of the films." She added, "It also let us introduce a new Black Panther of 1943."
The main characters in Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra include Steve Rogers, the young Captain America played by Drew Moerlein, and Azzuri, the previous Black Panther and T'Challa's grandfather, portrayed by actor Khary Payton. The initial alliance between these two heroes will be marked by tension, but they'll need to work to face their common enemies. In addition to Rogers and Azzuri, the game will also feature other protagonists, like Wakandan spy Nanali (Megalyn Echikunwoke) and sharpshooter Gabriel Jones (Marque Richardson). Another character mentioned is Julie (Lyne Renée), a member of the French resistance, but how they all tie together in the story remains a mystery.
Besides Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, reportedly, Marvel has four more games lined up for release in the future: the already-confirmed Marvel's Wolverine by Insomniac Games, the team behind Marvel's Spider-Man 2; Marvel's Iron Man by Motive; Marvel's Blade by Arkane Lyon; and another standalone Black Panther game from Cliffhanger Games.
So far, no platforms have been mentioned or a more specific release date for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, but it's expected to land on at least the current-gen systems like PS5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC.
