Magic: Legends open beta is live
The fans of Magic the Gathering are countless. The collectible card game has already been available for quite many years in its physical form, and even though it has some competitors, it continues to be one of the most popular worldwide. When it comes to its digital versions, there are several games that have reproduced the mechanics of the game with different grades of success. But the universe of Magic the Gathering also has quite a rich lore and it serves as a foundation for the latest MTG video game. Magic: Legends takes a different approach to the franchise, and it allows you to control a planeswalker to explore the different dimensions of Dominaria, but instead of the typical card game mechanics, it's an action role-playing game that reminisces of the games in the Diablo series.
Magic: Legends adapts the card game mechanics to make them part of its progression system. The cards represent the spells that you can cast while you play, and you will be able to unlock and enhance them by collecting fragments as you fight with creatures and complete quests while progressing through the game. You can build a "deck" combining a certain number of cards to create a specific set of powers for your character and modify it as you please to adapt it to your preferred playstyle.
“The Magic: Legends development team has spent the last few years creating an action RPG experience unlike any other, which combines the power fantasy of becoming a Planeswalker with fast-paced combat tied to strategic deckbuilding. Now, after all that hard work, we’re finally ready to welcome you to Open Beta.”
If you want to explore the universe of Magic: Legends by yourself, there is an open beta available on PC right now. You can download and play the game via Perfect World's digital platform ARC or via Epic Games Store. All you need is to create an account on the respective platform if you don't have one yet, and you will be able to play the beta.
Magic: Legends will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, ARC, and Epic Games Store later this year.
