Jurassic World Evolution 3 launches new update and DLC

Jurassic World Evolution 3, a game that allows you to create your own preshistoric paradise full of dinosaurs, has received a major new content drop, with Frontier Developments launching the paid Crocodilia Coast DLC alongside the free Update 1.4. Both are now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, giving park managers plenty of new ways to populate and customize their prehistoric attractions.

A Strong Expansion for Jurassic World Evolution 3

The headline addition in Crocodilia Coast is the Deinosuchus, marking the Jurassic World Evolution franchise's first playable crocodilian. This enormous semi-aquatic predator can stalk prey from the water before launching a powerful ambush and deathroll attack. Frontier describes it as having a bite force capable of outmatching a Tyrannosaurus rex, making it a particularly intimidating addition to any waterfront enclosure.

Deinosuchus is joined by four other prehistoric species, all introduced as complete family units. The pack includes the bipedal Postosuchus, the herbivorous and heavily armoured Desmatosuchus, the long-necked marine reptile Styxosaurus, and the enormous Late Triassic ichthyosaur Shonisaurus. The latter can grow to around 15 metres and weigh up to 30 tonnes, providing a suitably massive attraction for lagoon-focused parks.

The Styxosaurus also brings one of the DLC's more unusual visual features. Its juvenile can have bioluminescent skins, giving players a striking new option for nighttime lagoon displays. Frontier has also created bespoke interactions for the new family units, continuing the game's emphasis on animals living and developing as family groups rather than simply functioning as individual exhibits.

Crocodilia Coast is not just about new animals, either. The expansion adds hundreds of coastal-themed scenery pieces, including a complete wall kit, props, lighting, signage and waterfront structures. Thirteen new blueprints are also included, allowing players to quickly create boardwalks, coastal huts and other themed areas without having to construct everything from scratch.

Free Update 1.4 adds more than just a new dinosaur

The DLC's launch is accompanied by Update 1.4, which is available to every Jurassic World Evolution 3 player regardless of whether they purchase Crocodilia Coast. One of its biggest additions is the return of the Elasmosaurus, now redesigned as a full family unit with a new juvenile model. The update also introduces Clear Glass modular scenery, giving park builders considerably more flexibility when designing enclosures and viewing areas. These pieces can be used for transparent barriers and dividers, opening up new possibilities for displaying animals while keeping guests safely separated from them.

Sandbox mode has received several notable improvements as well. Players can now use a new Chaos preset, which increases combat and breeding frequency, encourages more aggressive territory expansion and reduces the ability of different species to comfortably coexist. In other words, it is an invitation to find out just how quickly a carefully managed dinosaur park can turn into a disaster movie.

Players can also enable automatic transportation of dead dinosaurs in Sandbox mode, reducing the amount of manual cleanup required and helping parks remain more comfortable for their surviving animals.

A new square Hawaii Sandbox map is another addition to the game in the free update, while Workshop Collections provide another way for players to discover and organize community-created content.

The combination of Crocodilia Coast and Update 1.4 gives Jurassic World Evolution 3 players a substantial reason to return to their parks. The paid expansion focuses heavily on waterfront environments and new family units, while the free update improves the underlying sandbox experience and gives every player additional creative tools.

Crocodilia Coast is a relatively compact expansion rather than a major campaign addition. Its appeal will largely depend on how much players value new aquatic and semi-aquatic animals, coastal scenery and additional options for building distinctive parks. For longtime players, however, the arrival of the Deinosuchus is arguably the biggest attraction. The prehistoric crocodilian has been a highly requested addition, and its debut gives the game a new type of predator capable of making waterfront exhibits substantially more dangerous.
