The Witcher 3 Remastered: Release Date, Upgrades & New DLC

CD Projekt Red officially unveiled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered during Gamescom Opening Night Live and scheduled its global launch for September 29, 2026. Designed as a definitive upgrade for modern platforms, the title will be released as a free update for existing owners on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

All base game owners will also automatically receive both major story expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, free of charge. The update also marks the franchise's arrival on new platforms, featuring native launches on Battle.net and Nintendo Switch 2.

Rebuilt Visuals, Sharper Combat, and Modernized Mechanics

Technically, the remaster delivers a total visual overhaul powered by enhanced path tracing, updated dynamic lighting, higher-resolution textures, and improved environmental foliage across all regions. Gameplay mechanics receive equal care: combat has been modernized with refined targeting, new gap-closing animations, dynamic camera angles, and brutal Sign-based finishers.

Progression has been overhauled through restructured skill trees and newly introduced perks, alongside improved Roach controls, responsive traversal, and rebalanced enemy behaviors.

Transmog, Mod Support, and a Brand-New 2027 Expansion

Beyond technical polish, the remaster introduces quality-of-life enhancements requested by the community, including a full armor transmogrification system, expanded photo mode, cross-platform console mod support, and Xbox Play Anywhere integration. CD Projekt Red capped off the reveal by teasing a brand-new paid expansion titled Songs of the Past.
