Bethesda just made Fallout 4 better for mod-hungry players

Fallout 4 update finally gives Creations room to breathe
Updates & Patches

Fallout 4 may be an older wasteland trip at this point, but Bethesda clearly isn’t done tuning it up. The latest update is not some giant new questline or fresh story chapter, but for players who love messing around with Creations, this one is actually a pretty big deal.

The main thing here is storage. Bethesda has rolled out the Creation Storage Expansion Update, and it gives console players a lot more room to install content. Xbox Series X|S gets the biggest win, with Creation storage now able to grow up to 100 GB. That is a massive jump, especially when you remember how quickly the old limits could get eaten up. Xbox One also gets a boost up to 15 GB, while PlayStation 5 now has around 15 GB and PlayStation 4 gets around 16 GB.

Xbox players get the biggest storage boost

There is one annoying catch for Xbox players, though. Installed Creations will be cleared the first time the game launches after the update, so players will need to re-download their content. Bethesda says you can restore a saved load order through the Creations menu, or load a save made since the Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition launch on November 10, 2025. PlayStation 5 players have it easier, since installed Creations should stay preserved after the update.

This update also connects nicely to the Anniversary Edition, which brought the game back into the spotlight with a big bundle of extra Creations and content. That version gave players more reasons to return to the Commonwealth, but it also made the storage issue feel even more obvious. With this patch, Bethesda is basically giving the Creation system more breathing room, especially for console players who want to build a heavier mod list without constantly fighting the install limit.

There are some useful fixes packed in too. Bethesda fixed an infinite loading issue tied to the Creations menu, a PlayStation crash that could happen while downloading content, problems with “Download all Creations in My Library,” and the ugly “LOOKUP FAILED!” text that could appear in places like the Pip-Boy map.

So no, this update is not the kind of patch that adds a whole new adventure. But for anyone still treating the Commonwealth like a giant modding playground, it is one of the more useful updates Fallout 4 has had in a while.
