EMPULSE brings back fast shooter madness with a mech twist
EMPULSE knows exactly who it is trying to grab: the players who still miss fast, messy, wall-running multiplayer shooters. This is 1047 Games, the team behind Splitgate, taking a swing at that Titanfall-shaped gap and saying, “Yeah, movement shooters still deserve a place.” And honestly, that is already enough to make a lot of players pay attention.
The whole game is built around moving like a maniac. You are not just running from one fight to the next. You are wall-running, grappling, boosting through the air, cutting across rooftops, and trying to land shots while everyone else is doing the same thing. Matches look like pure chaos at first, but that is part of the fun. Once you start getting used to the movement, every fight feels like it can turn into a clip. One second you are getting chased, the next you are flying over someone’s head and turning the fight around.
Mechs are the prize, not the killstreak
What makes EMPULSE more interesting is how it handles mechs. Instead of giving players a giant robot just because they got enough kills, the game drops mechs onto the map as something both teams have to fight for. That changes the whole mood of a match. It is not just one player cashing in a reward. It is the team pushing, contesting, and trying to earn control of a huge metal problem for the enemy side. When your team gets one, it feels like you won a proper battle before the bigger battle even starts.
The paid Early Access model is also worth talking about. In a shooter market where so many games are free-to-play and packed with battle passes, EMPULSE is taking a different route. That might scare some players away, but it also gives the game a cleaner feel right now. The focus seems to be on getting the gameplay right, listening to feedback, and building the game with the community instead of throwing a giant shop in everyone’s face from day one.
It is still early, so nobody can say yet if EMPULSE will become the movement shooter fans have been waiting for. But the idea is strong, the action looks fast, and the mech objective system gives it a nice team-based edge.
