Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO increases penalties for quitters
Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, launched just a month ago, has quickly become a favorite among Dragon Ball fans. The custom battle mode offers players endless possibilities for creating unique content to share with the community, while competitive players can jump into online matches to test their skills against others. However, the game has faced significant criticism for its ranked system, which has become a hot topic among players.
As the long-awaited return of the beloved Budokai Tenkaichi series, Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO introduces numerous improvements and new mechanics to its gameplay, making it a comprehensive upgrade over the original series. Among the most highly anticipated features is the addition of online matches, allowing players to compete globally like never before.
If you've been playing online matches recently, you may have noticed a recurring issue: many players drop out of matches before they end. This behavior has made the online experience frustrating for many, as players frequently quit mid-match when they're losing. The lack of sufficient penalties for this "rage-quitting" behavior has allowed some to exploit the system, avoiding point losses and unfairly climbing the ranks. Recognizing this problem, Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO has announced plans to increase penalties for players who quit matches prematurely.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO will increase timeout penalties
Attention, DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO players!

To ensure a fair and enjoyable gaming experience, we are strengthening timeout penalties against players with excessive disconnection or quitting rates during online matches.
Thanks for your support and keep the battles…
In a recent tweet from Spike Chunsoft, the developers announced that they will be "strengthening timeout penalties against players with excessive disconnection or quitting rates during online matches." This essentially means extending the timeout duration for rage-quitters, rather than implementing additional penalties. However, many players feel that this measure alone isn't sufficient to address the issue.
Some players argue that the increased timeout penalty won't fully deter mid-match quitting. Since the penalties gradually lift as players complete their matches, this approach doesn't entirely solve the problem. A popular suggestion among the community is to implement a system where quitters are automatically marked as the losers of the matches they leave, while their opponents are declared the winners. This way, players won’t feel like their time is wasted.
On the other hand, some fans have pointed out that Spike Chunsoft has yet to address character imbalances in online matches, which remains another significant issue affecting the competitive experience.
Nonetheless, it seems that Spike Chunsoft is actively listening to the community. At the very least, Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO players can now enjoy online matches knowing that opponents who quit will face consequences. Despite being out for only a month, the game still boasts a significant number of active players. A recent leak has revealed that more fighters will be added to Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO in future updates.
