DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1 will be a standalone DLC

The release of DOOM Eternal was a big success when it happened back in March, and plenty of players have had their good share of fun slaying demons since then. Therefore, the recent announcement of its first DLC, which is called DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1, has received a very warm welcome from the players. We could se the first footage of the DLC in a video published on August 27 that allows us to take a peek at what DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1 will offer.

But a very big surpirse has been revealed by id Software’s executive producer Marty Stratton, who has explained in an interview with PCgamesN that you won´t need to own the base game to be able to enjoy all the content in DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1

“When we look at how many people have played through the game we have a large percentage – higher than 2016 – that have completed it, so you’re always looking at that and seeing how far players make it through your game. It’s important as we want the DLC to reach as many people as possible. In fact, you don’t even need to own Doom Eternal to buy the DLC and play it.”

It's also important to notice that the first video of DOOM Eternal: The Ancients Gods is labeled as "Part One", so it seems that we will see a second part at some point in the future, but we don't know yet if it will also be a standalone expansion or you will need DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1 to play it . The DLC is included in the DOOM Eternal Year One Season Pass, and if you want the best DOOM Eternal experience, you should probably get the whole package and have access to everything.

It looks like DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1 is going to be a tad bigger than your usual DLC, at least enough to offer you an intense adventure in which you will face a new threat. It will be available October 20, 2020.
