Devil May Cry is coming to Nintendo Switch this Summer

Say hello to Dante as the original Devil May Cry comes to Nintendo Switch.

It was announced today in the official Twitter account of the game that Devil May Cry is coming to Nintendo Switch. Keep in mind that we are talking about the original and first entry of the series where players take on the role of Dante, the devil hunter who is famous for slashing and shooting his enemies in style. The game is not to be mistaken for DMC: Devil May Cry, a reboot from the series that takes place in an alternate timeline.

This title was first launched in 2001 for PlayStation 2, and it was followed by several other entries. The most recent of those is Devil May Cry 5 that was launched early this year, and that introduces a brand new character to the series. Capcom maybe gauging the reception of the DMC series on this specific platform. The studio has previously stated that the fifth instalment, DMC 5, may be ported to Nintendo Switch if the port for Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen does well. However, there was also some news that the main reason why DMC 5 wasn’t released for Switch was that Capcom didn’t get Switch dev kits until later into the game’s development – not much on whether they like the platform or not. Even Hideaki Itsuno, the series director, shared how Devil May Cry isn’t on a Nintendo platform so having Capcom put it on Switch in some form is a good move. Said move has some huge implications in a way that if Dante appears on Switch, then it won’t be long now for Dante to do a guest character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.Devil May Cry is considered as one of the best titles in the entire DMC series. It is set for a summer launch, but no specific date has been announced yet. It is also still unknown whether it’s going to be a straight port of the PS2 or of the more recent HD collection. You can see the differences in the video below.
