Assassin's Creed Shadows will support Steam Deck

Assassin's Creed Shadows will support Steam Deck

The arrival of Assassin's Creed Shadows is getting closer and Ubisoft doesn't stop releasing information about the upcoming action-adventure game. After announcing outstanding pre-sales and revealing the game's Canon Mode and the exciting Hideout system, the developer has now surprised everyone by revealing that the game will support Steam Deck at launch. This is a great announcement, especially given the high popularity of Valve's handheld platform. However, it's also quite unexpected and surprising because Ubisoft ruled out this possibility a few weeks ago. Back then the developer stated that Steam Deck wasn't up to the minimum system requirements to run the game.

It seems that the Assassin's Creed Shadows development team has had enough free time with the delays on the release date to finish polishing the game and conduct the necessary tests and changes to make the game Steam Deck verified. However, the official system requirements to play the game on PC have not been lowered and one might wonder about what kind of performance you can expect when playing the game on Valve's platform. No details have been provided on this matter, although Ubisoft has stated that it will reveal more information soon.

Cinematic trailer

Alongside this announcement, Ubisoft has released a new cinematic TV ad for Assassin's Creed Shadows. The footage in the video is quite spectacular and demonstrates that Ubisoft is going all-in with the game. The game's marketing campaign has been extended for quite a few months as a way to mitigate the possible harm caused by the delays and we will soon find out if the game condemns or saves the French video game publisher.
