Assassin's Creed Shadows' Hideout adds depth to the series
Many of the novelties that Assassin's Creed Shadows will bring to the series have been discussed for a long time. The game's two protagonists and their different combat styles, the Canon Mode, or the unique scenario where the story takes place, but the game will also improve in other fields. A common feature that appears in several installments of the popular series is that the protagonists have a place that serves as a base of operations for their adventures. It took the shape of a small town in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but in the case of Assassin's Creed Shadows, it will be a hideout that will offer way more possibilities than in previous games.
Build your hideout
Naoe and Yasuke will have a hideout you can build and customize as they please in Assassin's Creed Shadows. It will offer greater freedom for customization as it will allow players to raise buildings anywhere, decorate them as they please, and even explore them. As you progress through the story the hideout will eventually be populated by the allies you recruit in your adventures and it will be possible to interact with them to get advice, quests, and more. Your hideout will directly impact your experience in the game as the buildings can provide special bonuses and access to new objectives. However, building your hideout will require you to gather materials. The hideout itself works like a management mini-game of sorts whose branches reach other parts of the adventure. Ubisoft has recently talked about it on Reddit:
"In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the Hideout is your base. Compared to the settlement in Valhalla, we wanted to give players far greater freedom for customization. You can simply also go there and decorate, adding fences, trees, pets that you collect in your exploration, connecting building, adding ponds, etc.
Of course, you will be able to build new rooms and upgrade them. When building one, you can place them almost everywhere, even connecting them to already existing rooms. Each new thing you build will have a gameplay impact, like improving your Scouts, upgrading your Allies with the Dojo, unlocking new engraving opportunities with the Forge, even things like a Tea room that improve your ration efficiency.
The more you build, the more the hideout gain levels and unlock new rewards.What I like the most is seeing the characters I met that have become my allies interacting with each other or with me. Some have things to say to Naoe or Yasuke, so as you progress, you see your hideout becoming more and more alive."
The hideout will definitely add more depth to Assassin's Creed Shadows and will provide more ways of interacting with the world while offering a more immersive experience. Despite all the controversies surrounding its launch, the game looks like an exciting adventure with plenty of potential to become a title that will drive the series forward.
