AMD RX 9080 XT Sample May Rival Nvidia’s RTX 5080 Super
AMD appears to be in the works on a new high-end graphics card, with the rumored Radeon RX 9080 XT making waves by potentially outpacing the RTX 5080 and possibly even rivaling the forthcoming RTX 5080 SUPER.
In a recent video shared by leaker Moore's Law is Dead, it’s been suggested that AMD's new enthusiast-level RDNA 4-based graphics card might be named the Radeon RX 9080 XT – though hopefully, AMD doesn't end up choosing an overly complicated name like the Radeon RX 9080 XTX Ultra AI NPU.
Regardless, sources from MLID indicate that this rumored RDNA 4 enthusiast GPU is equipped with faster GDDR7 memory on a 256-bit memory interface, potentially offering up to 32GB of GDDR7 for the expected Radeon RX 9080 XT. Furthermore, the GPU is said to reach clock speeds between 3.7GHz and an impressive 4.0GHz, with a power draw of up to 450W.
Regarding gaming performance, the anticipated Radeon RX 9080 XT (we'll stick with RX 9080 XT for now, as it seems most logical) is reported to perform 15-40% better in gaming compared to the RX 9070 XT, averaging about 28% higher performance in 4K gaming than its predecessor.
It appears AMD is likely holding off on the launch of the Radeon RX 9080 XT until its new FSR 4 "Redstone" upscaling technology is ready, having unveiled Redstone during Computex 2025 earlier this month. With expected clock speeds of up to 4.0GHz and as much as 32GB of advanced GDDR7 memory, the Radeon RX 9080 XT could potentially outperform NVIDIA's newest GeForce RTX 5080 and may even compete closely with the upcoming RTX 5080 SUPER, which would be quite impressive for AMD.
But for those who want exceptional gaming power without pushing the limits of their budget, the Radeon RX 9070 is the sweet spot. As always, for the latest news on hardware launches and industry developments, be sure to follow our dedicated hardware coverage.
