Outpost's gameplay is divided into two phases. On one side, you use the resources you gather to build up a defense perimeter around your base. You can place turrets, traps, and all kinds of defense systems to keep the enemy at bay and keep upgrading them as you gather more resources and expand your base. On the other, you can jump into the action in first-person view to fight against the enemy, explore the surrounding area, and gather much-needed resources.
