The ultimate test of martial arts, SIFU is a unique and challenging beat ‘em up that will test both your strategic ability and your reflexes.

You play a young martial artist out for revenge against five assassins who murdered your family. Your quest will take you through dank alleyways, nightclubs, fighting dens, and dojos. You will face expert martial artists, trained killers, and hardcore bosses who won’t hesitate to take your life.

But you have one advantage: a magical talisman that can resurrect you from the dead. There is one catch—each time you are revived, you age a number of years. While aging makes your strikes more powerful, if you grow too old you’ll die before you can complete your quest.

Combat in SIFU similarly requires balance. Button-mashing a single foe is the quickest way to defeat as enemies will swarm you from all sides. SIFU requires spatial awareness and quick reflexes. You must use your environment to your advantage by picking up bottles, kicking chairs at enemies, throwing them over ledges, or slamming them against walls. You can also vault over tables or run on walls to avoid getting cornered.

You’ll likely fail many times in SIFU, but that’s part of its design. Combat mastery takes practice and a lifetime of devotion, and SIFU aims to give that full experience.

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How does aging impact my character's combat effectiveness in SIFU, and are there ways to mitigate its effects?
Aging reduces your maximum health and increases the damage taken, while also slightly increasing your attack power. You can lower your death counter by replaying levels, thus delaying aging. Certain skills and environmental interactions can also directly provide age reduction.
If I die repeatedly in a level, what happens to my overall age and the difficulty?
Each death adds to your age. As your age increases, the game's difficulty adjusts. When you reach a certain age, your character will permanently 'fail', which leads to a game over.
Can I permanently unlock skills, and how do skills and techniques transfer between playthroughs?
Yes, skills can be permanently unlocked by spending experience points multiple times. Permanently unlocked skills carry over to future playthroughs, giving you a growing advantage. Techniques learned are only active within the current run.
How does the 'structure' mechanic work, and what's the best way to break an enemy's structure?
Structure represents an enemy's poise. Attacking an enemy's structure with powerful attacks or by successfully parrying their attacks will cause it to deplete. Once an enemy's structure breaks, they become vulnerable to a powerful takedown.
What is the significance of the 'Focus' meter, and how do I utilize Focus attacks effectively?
The Focus meter allows you to perform powerful, cinematic attacks. It fills up as you deal damage and successfully parry attacks. By pressing a button when the Focus meter is full, you unleash devastating special moves.
How does parrying work in SIFU, and what's the difference between a successful parry and a failed block?
Parrying involves precise timing of your block button to deflect enemy attacks. A successful parry stuns the enemy and opens them up for a counterattack. A failed block results in your structure taking damage.
Do different weapons have unique properties, and can I keep weapons between levels?
Yes, different weapons have different damage, range, and structure damage properties. Weapons are generally only usable within the level they are found. Certain weapon upgrades or skills may be carried over, but the weapon itself usually is not.
How does environment interaction affect combat, and are there specific techniques tied to the environment?
The environment is highly interactive, allowing for attacks using objects, knocking enemies into things, or utilizing tools like bottles and bricks. These interactions can vary, from quick attacks to situational takedowns.
Is there a way to 'reset' a level and replay it without the aging penalty if I reach the end with a high age?
Yes, you can restart a level at any time. When replaying a level, the game will remember your total age. You can lower your death counter by earning score or performing specific actions which will lower your overall age.
How do I deal with enemies that have armored attacks or those with unblockable moves?
Armored attacks can be broken with structure damage or timing your parries just right. Unblockable attacks require dodging or environmental manipulation.
