Astronaut floating in zero gravity in a space station. The game Heavenly Bodies.

Space technology has evolved quite a bit in the last fifty years, but nothing was so easy in the '70s. The astronauts weren't so accustomed to working under zero-gravity conditions, and any menial task in space was a huge chore. Heavenly Bodies uses that scenario as the foundation to build a highly interactive puzzle experience focused on cosmonauts, the body, and the absence of gravity.

As a space engineer, you have plenty of menial tasks to accomplish every day in a space station, but working in a zero-gravity environment can make them quite difficult. Heavenly Bodies challenges you with a wide variety of scenarios where you will control a cosmonaut that has to complete certain tasks. These range from maintenance operations to the manipulation of space vehicles. Heavenly Bodies allows you to control each of the limbs of a weightless cosmonaut, but just the limbs, which can lead to situations as funny as challenging in this space simulation game.

Heavenly Bodies is designed to be played with a dual-analog joystick controller for an optimal gameplay experience. Therefore, playing the game with a mouse and keyboard is not recommended, even though you can assign keybinds to every function.

You can play Heavenly Bodies with a friend on cooperative mode, which multiplies the challenge and the fun.

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the thrusters to freely 'fly' between the objects, or are they mainly for brief adjustments and movements?
Thrusters provide short bursts of movement. The core gameplay revolves around manipulating your astronaut's limbs and the environment to propel yourself and grab onto objects, not continuous flight.
If I detach a component, like a solar panel, can I reattach it, or is the detachment permanent, impacting the level's objectives?
Detached components are usually permanently detached. You have to carefully manage your actions, since mistakes can make you fail the level.
How sensitive are the controls? Is it easy to accidentally trigger movements or grip something unintended?
The controls are intentionally physics-based and sensitive. This requires a deliberate, careful approach to movement and gripping, making precise actions challenging.
Are there any consequences for damaging the space station or its components beyond failing the current objective?
Besides failing the objectives, there aren't further consequences. Focus is on completing the task with the limited resources in the environment.
Does the game provide any kind of 'rewind' or 'undo' feature to correct mistakes, or do I have to restart from the beginning of the level?
There is no built-in rewind feature; therefore, you will have to restart the level when you make a mistake.
How critical is the astronaut's orientation (up/down) for success? Does it heavily influence movement and interaction?
Orientation is very important, as the astronaut's position relative to objects and their own limbs directly affects how you can grab, push, or pull things.
Are there any levels where I need to coordinate movements with a second player? And how does that affect the overall feel of the game?
Yes, some levels involve cooperative gameplay. Communication and synchronized movements become essential due to the challenging physics-based mechanics.
How much 'give' is there in the environment? Can I deform or break things, or is everything rigid?
Most objects are rigid. The gameplay revolves around interacting with these fixed elements to achieve the objectives of the current level.
Can I use momentum to swing myself around objects, or will I be constantly fighting against the physics engine?
Momentum is your primary tool. Mastering the swing mechanics and using momentum effectively is fundamental to progress.
Are there any time limits or resource constraints beyond the immediate objectives? Does the game add pressure?
Many levels have time constraints, and some have limitations on resources (like thruster fuel). These add to the pressure and challenge.
