Fight, kill, and consume your foes in a Metroidvania like no other: GRIME. You are a strange being born from the implosion of exotic material, with a body made of stone and a black hole where your head should be. You find yourself in a grim, nightmarish world where the landscape is a misshapen mass of stone and flesh, and surreal monsters are roaming everywhere.

A world of nightmare. Explore a vast hellscape with sights like a desert of faces, a forest of limbs, and a cave filled with weeping eyes. Even the creatures seem to be suffering due to their horrid, mutated forms. But you can put an end to their painful existence.

Grow in power. Destroy every enemy that stands in your way with an assortment of strange weapons that mutate in combat: swords that claw, axes that bite, and whips that sting. Every time you slay a creature, your head can absorb them to increase your strength and give you new skills.

Face challenging bosses. You will need every ounce of power you can get to fight menacing bosses that are many times your size. Memorize their patterns, pick skills to counter them, and try your best to survive. GRIME will not be easy, but then, real power is never given. It’s taken.

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Can I parry attacks from any direction, or does the game restrict parrying to specific angles?
You can parry attacks from any direction, allowing for reactive combat against diverse enemy attack patterns.
How does the 'mass' mechanic influence my character's movement and combat, and what are the limitations?
Your 'mass' dictates both your movement speed and the power of your attacks. Higher mass allows for heavier hits but also slows your agility. Managing your mass strategically is key.
If I absorb an enemy, is there a limit to how many abilities I can have active at once?
You can equip multiple absorbed abilities, but there is a limit based on your character progression and resource management. Choosing which abilities to utilize at any given time is essential.
What are the consequences of missing a parry? Does it purely lead to taking damage, or are there other effects?
Missing a parry leaves you vulnerable to the enemy's follow-up attack, often resulting in significant damage. Certain enemies may also inflict status ailments upon successful hits if the parry fails.
How does the game differentiate between different weapon types in terms of their impact on combat style?
Weapons in GRIME have varying attack speeds, range, and impact. Some favor swift strikes, while others are built for delivering massive damage with each blow. Some weapon's abilities may combo with absorbed enemy abilities.
Can I use abilities during the air? If so, what is the impact on abilities' usage?
Some abilities can be used mid-air, allowing for aerial attacks and greater mobility. Mid-air usage may alter an ability's effect, or it may consume additional stamina.
Is the 'absorb' mechanic only for offensive purposes, or can I absorb enemy attacks to gain health or other buffs?
The 'absorb' mechanic is primarily offensive but can also provide benefits such as health regeneration or temporary stat boosts. Certain abilities can be triggered based on absorbing attacks.
How does the world's structure influence the traversal options available to me, and are there hidden paths or secrets?
The world is interconnected, often requiring players to revisit areas with newly acquired abilities. There are hidden paths and secrets, rewarding exploration and experimentation.
Does the game offer any form of customization beyond the acquisition of new abilities and weapons?
Customization primarily revolves around your character's ability loadout and weapon choices. You can also respec stats to adapt your build to certain situations.
How does the game encourage players to experiment with different builds or strategies?
The game allows for stat respecing and ability management, so you are encouraged to experiment with different playstyles without any real penalty. Each enemy is also built in a way that would require different approach.
