It is set on the Eastern Front during Operation Doppelkopf, a German counter-offensive on the Eastern Front in August of 1944. The Soviets have reached the gulf of Riga and are pressuring the Germans. You can play either as commander of the attacking German forces, or as the defending Red Army in this massive campaign.
In Steel Division 2 - Burning Baltics you will command divisions that took part in the historical campaign and it adds a total of 8 divisions: Grossdeutschland, Nordland, Panzerverband Strachwitz and 52. Sicherungs-Division z.b.V. for the axis. 19th Tank Corps, Mobile Group Fedyunkin, Estonian 7th Rifle Division, and the 43rd Army's Reserve for the allies. The campaign also features new weapons like the MT-13 super-heavy mortar and the BS-3 heavy AT-gun, the Yer-2 bombers and more.
You will also be able to use 2 new flying aces, the Stuka pilot Hans-Ulrich Rüdel who was the most decorated German soldier of World War II, and Gueorgui Nefiodovitch Zakharov, the flying Soviet general.
