Wildermyth takes you on an adventure of several lifetimes. In this procedurally generated turn-based tactical RPG, you will lead a band of heroes as they grow from low-level peasants to legendary adventurers. Where will your story take you? Live the life of an adventurer and choose your own fate.

Enter the realm of Yondering Lands, a place where each scenery and creature is a handpainted papercraft piece. Explore gorgeous fantasy locations and face unique monsters like clockwork undead, psionic insect dragons, and more.

Much like traditional tabletop RPGs, Wildermyth focuses on character development. Customize each hero’s stats, appearance, and abilities. Each one possesses their own history and personality. Each member of your party will age, change, form relationships, and perhaps even sacrifice themselves for the greater good.

You get to decide how the stories of each character go. Every choice will have consequences. If you make a deal with a demon, your fighting abilities and appearance will change. Having two characters fall in love will make them form a bond that gives mutual bonuses. Dying is permanent: you choose if you want to save your character but leave them permanently maimed or have them go out in a final glorious charge.

Like with tabletop RPGs, combat in Wildermyth is highly tactical and requires careful planning and positioning on the map. Take stock of your characters’ abilities. Employ teamwork by flanking and walling to counter powerful enemies. Use magic to blow up foes and tilt the battle to your favor.

Each run, you get new quests, face different monsters, and pick different abilities for your heroes. And if your heroes make it into the roster of legends, you may even bring them back for one more adventure. With each run, Wildermyth becomes even more enjoyable. Get ready for the adventuring life!

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 'Mythic' system interact with character relationships, and what narrative consequences arise from romantic relationships, rivalries, or familial ties?
The Mythic system weaves character relationships into the core gameplay. Romantic relationships might lead to shared adventures, offspring, and unique story events. Rivalries can trigger dramatic conflicts or heroic sacrifices. Familial ties, such as parent-child or sibling bonds, can create deeper emotional resonance and influence character development through shared experiences and legacies.
In what ways do character transformations, such as becoming a 'Wraithmancer' or 'Thornlord,' impact gameplay mechanics, and how do these transformations affect a character's role in combat and on the campaign map?
Character transformations fundamentally alter gameplay. A 'Wraithmancer' might gain abilities to summon undead or manipulate shadows, shifting their combat role to a tactical controller. A 'Thornlord' could gain powerful melee attacks and defensive capabilities. These changes also affect map interactions, potentially unlocking new event choices or influencing how they interact with other characters and locations.
How does the 'Legacy' system function, and what types of content can be carried over between campaigns to affect the subsequent playthroughs?
The Legacy system allows characters, items, and relationships to be preserved across campaigns. Surviving heroes can become legendary figures, influencing events and providing bonuses to new generations of heroes. Unique items and artifacts can be carried over, providing a head start in future campaigns. Relationships, like a famous family line, can also influence the story.
How does the game handle the death of a hero, and what are the long-term implications for the narrative and gameplay if a core character dies during a campaign?
The death of a hero is a significant event, deeply impacting the narrative. Their story may end permanently, or their legacy may continue through descendants. Death can trigger significant story beats, influence relationships, and create unique challenges for surviving heroes. The player must adapt to fill the gap left by a fallen hero.
What role does environmental storytelling play within the procedural generation, and how are the generated locations and events informed by character backstories and relationships?
Environmental storytelling is key to Wildermyth. Locations and events are influenced by character backstories and relationships. A character's hometown might feature prominently in a quest if that's where they grew up. If characters share a strong bond, they might jointly encounter specific challenges that are not experienced by other parties.
How does the game's combat system blend tactical positioning with the procedural generation of abilities and battlefield conditions?
Combat combines tactical movement and ability use with procedural elements. Abilities and battlefield conditions (like flaming forests) are dynamically generated. The tactical situation may change suddenly as a result. This ensures that no two fights play exactly the same, making combat a blend of strategy and on-the-fly adaptation.
Can you elaborate on how choices made during 'interfusions' impact the long-term development of a character, and can they result in permanent changes to their personalities or abilities?
Interfusions allow characters to become something more than human. Choices made during these events can permanently alter a character's personality traits (brave, cautious, etc.) and grant new abilities. This adds a layer of depth and customization to the game where each hero's journey is shaped by their unique experiences and choices.
How do the 'infusions' and 'mystic' abilities complement each other, and what is the strategic value in combining these elements in combat or narrative events?
Infusions and mystic abilities can work together to create interesting synergies in combat and narrative events. Infusions often grant physical or elemental powers, while mystic abilities provide buffs, debuffs, or utility. Combining these allows for complex strategic options. For example, a character might infuse their sword with fire then use a mystic ability to extend the flame's reach.
How are the player's choices and the outcomes of battles recorded for later campaigns? Does the game track a character's triumphs, failures, and relationships?
The game tracks a character's triumphs, failures, and relationships through a rich, behind-the-scenes recording system. These recorded histories are used to influence future events, character interactions, and even entire storylines in subsequent campaigns. This creates a strong sense of continuity and consequence across multiple playthroughs.
Beyond the visual representation, how does the game use sound design and music to reinforce the emotional impact of the narrative, especially during key story moments and character interactions?
Sound design and music are integral to the emotional experience. Music dynamically shifts to underscore tension, triumph, or sorrow. Sound effects are used to highlight the impact of specific events or abilities. The combination provides a powerful way to reinforce the emotional impact of the narrative, especially during crucial story moments and character interactions, adding another layer of depth to the player's experience.
