    Return once again to the Middle Ages in the third installment of this strategy game. This time the game focuses more on the roleplaying aspects and interactions of the characters than the purely military strategy, giving the game a new dimension. 

    You will be able to choose from two starting dates, 867 and 1066, starting in the Viking Age as usual. The end date is also still the Fall of Byzantium. Choose a royal or noble house from a number of realms from Iceland to India, from the Arctic Circle to Central Africa. Start your dynasty and form your cadet branches that have their own leaders and act mostly independently from their parent dynasty. A new resource, Renown will help you to control the branches of your house. 

    Characters now are 3D-rendered and have their own traits that will affect stats and behavior, just make sure you don't push against your nature, or it will push your stress levels and create problems. Some of those traits can be passed along to your descendants and you can choose to train your heirs yourself or appoint guardians to have some limited control of their behavior. Religion and government are still a strong part of the game. Faithful observance, pilgrimages, and the funding of Temples can increase your Piety statistic, while heretical actions might get you in trouble and excommunicated. 

    But do not worry, you still have to lead armies into wars and scheme for power, but also arrange alliances through marriage, publicly keep your promises, and reward your vassals with land and accolades to keep them pleased.
