Iconoclasts is an award-winning 2D action platformer developed and published by Joakim Sandberg. It follows the story of a renegade mechanic named Robin as she embarks on a journey to save her dying planet from destruction. The game features intricate puzzles, unique characters, and challenging boss fights all set in a beautifully rendered pixel art world.
In Iconoclasts, players control Robin as she collects items and upgrades that will help her move through various levels rife with obstacles such as spikes, enemies (both human & mechanical), turrets, saw blades, etc., all while battling bosses using her arsenal of weapons including handguns, bombs, hammers and more. Additionally, players can also acquire tools such as the Wrench which allows them to access secret areas or use magnetized platforms to reach new heights. With its combination of exploration mechanics combined with puzzle-solving elements, Iconoclasts presents engaging gameplay experiences throughout its duration while providing enough challenge for experienced gamers alike. The narrative behind Iconoclasts focuses heavily on faith & religion against oppressive institutions looking to keep power out of people’s hands; this overarching theme serves well alongside some gripping character moments featuring NPCs both helpful & malevolent - leading up to an exciting conclusion where Robin's true motivations and destiny are revealed.
Iconoclasts has won numerous awards including "Excellence in Visual Art" & "Best Indie Game" at the 2018 Bit Awards, being praised for its unique art direction and gripping story. With its mix of exploration, puzzle solving, and narrative-driven gameplay, Iconoclasts is sure to be an enjoyable experience for gamers of any kind. Whether you're a fan of old-school platformers or are looking for something new, Iconoclasts offers an engrossing adventure to get lost in.
