Narcos: Rise of the Cartels is based on the Netflix TV Series and follows the rise and fall of El Patrón. It is a game with an unusual take on Escobar's legacy that surprises with a stunning blend of animation and FMW directly from the show.
This turn-based combat game features recognizable locations from the show and you can build your team from a selection of class-specific roles, join leading characters, upgrade your skills, and pick a side. Become a member of the Medellín Cartel or join the American DEA in their fight to stop the expansion and corruption of the Cartel.
Narcos: Rise of the Cartels takes an unusual approach at turn-based strategy, alternating turns between you and your opponent but only allowing you to move and take actions with one character. Planning ahead your moves becomes less of a burden since you know that the enemy will only move one character during their turn. It also makes a bit more complicated to develop your own strategy, because you can only react to the enemy moves with one character at a time. The game also features a counterattack system that allows you to take control of a character in third-person view to shoot reactively against enemies that enter its field of vision. These two features make the gameplay of Narcos: Rise of the Cartels much more reactive than what we are used to finding in other turn-based strategy games.
The permadeath of your team helps to introduce a sense of peril into play. The levels are long and complex, with detailed sections and plenty of choices in your missions to advance. There are plenty of characters from the TV series that you can control and play, adding authenticity to the game.
