    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How do I transfer the pilot of a ship I'm not currently flying?
You need a 'Transfer Pilot' order in the ship's behavior menu, which can be set remotely. The pilot transfer happens when the ship is docked at a station or another ship.
Can I directly control the turrets and weapons of my capital ships?
No, you cannot manually aim the turrets. You can set up turret behaviors and weapon groups through the ship's behavior settings.
How do I efficiently manage a large fleet of ships?
Use the 'Fleet' commands, assigning roles and tasks. You can also create wings for automated combat and exploration.
What's the best way to make money through manufacturing?
Set up a complex of stations that produce intermediate products, then sell those at a profit. Carefully monitor resource prices to maximize your gains.
How does the 'supply and demand' system work in X4: Foundations?
Prices fluctuate dynamically based on the availability of goods and the demand for them at different stations. Monitoring trade offers will give you an advantage.
How do I acquire blueprints to build stations?
Blueprints can be acquired through several methods, including scanning data vaults, completing missions, or purchasing them from specific factions.
Can I design my own ships?
You cannot fully design ships from scratch, but you can modify the equipment and loadout of existing ship models.
How does the 'sector ownership' system work?
You cannot directly own entire sectors. However, you can influence sectors by building stations, controlling the trade routes, and gaining favor with the factions present.
How do I automate trade routes?
Assign traders to specific sectors or regions and set up 'trade rules' through the ship's behavior settings to automatically buy and sell goods.
How does research work, and what are its benefits?
Research is done at specific stations or through missions. It unlocks new technologies like advanced engines, shields, weapons, and station modules, giving you an edge.
