THQ details the world of ELEX II ahead of release

Magalan is a planet that has never fully recovered from the huge cataclysm that took place several hundred years ago. The impact of a huge meteor turned the world into a post-apocalyptic wasteland but those who survived managed to adapt to the new environment. But everything changed due to the apparition of a new element known as Elex that can be used as an energy source and grant incredible elemental powers to those who consume it. The Elex changed the planet more than any catastrophe, and it was soon the center of a conflict for its control. This was the scenario for the first game in the franchise, ELEX, which was released in 2017, but the sequel will arrive very soon, and THQ has published a video showcasing a detailed description of the features in ELEX II.

In ELEX II, you will take the role of Jax again. The protagonist of the first game in the series returns to the world of Magalan years after defeating the Hybrid, this time to fight against a new threat that comes from the stars. Strange alien creatures have descended from the sky wielding the mysterious powers of dark Elex, and Jax will have to unite the different factions on the planet to fight against them. 

ELEX II is set in a huge open world that you can explore as you please. You start your adventure powerless and underequipped, but you will soon get weapons and armor that will help you accomplish your mission. ELEX II features thrilling action-based combat in a sci-fi world full of dangerous monsters. You can face them and other opponents in melee combat or annihilate them from afar with ranged weapons and extraordinary elemental powers. 

Magalan is divided into opposing factions that you can join or manipulate according to your own agenda. Joining any of these will allow you to climb up the ranks in their organization and unlock exclusive equipment, but it's not mandatory, and you can also become an independent fighter that takes advantage of any opportunity.

Overall, ELEX II feels like a unique sci-fi RPG experience that improves the gameplay mechanics and graphics of the first game and takes them to a new level.
